Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Sponsoring Networking Reception at the Iowa Culinary Institute with Micro-Concert by World Renowned Opera Singer, Simon Estes.

Transportation from/to the Iowa Culinary Institute will be provided.

Meet Simon Estes

Internationally renowned Opera Star, Simon Estes, has sung in 84 Opera Houses, with 115 orchestra’s, and with 90 of the greatest conductors in the World. His 102 roles include; The Flying Dutchman, Boris Godunov, Attila, Nabucco, Macbeth, Figaro, Porgy, and Moses.

He has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, Boston Opera, San Francisco Opera, National Opera in Washington D.C., Seattle Opera, Liceu Opera in Barcelona, Spain, and the Grand Opera in Paris. He has performed in West Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, and Stuttgart. In France, the Gran Theatre, Bastille.

Dr. Estes has sung for six United States Presidents, from President Johnson through President Obama, as well as Nelson Mandela, Rabin, Arafat, Francois Mitterrand, Boris Yeltsin, and Desmond Tutu, and is the only person to have performed for the 25th and 50th Anniversary of the United Nations.

Simon’s humanitarian efforts have saved more than 100,000 children in Africa from malaria, awarded over 600 scholarships to attend college, and supported The Simon Estes Music High School in Cape Town, South Africa.

He has taught at Juilliard School of Music, Boston University, Iowa State University, Wartburg College and DMACC.

By Faith, Dr. Estes, with a 52-year career as an Opera Singer, has performed with a prayer that it would glorify God and inspire people to love one another.
